How can a Dietitian help you?

There is scientific evidence that dietary management can reduce the risk of recurrence and improve survival after an early cancer diagnosis. It can also improve quality of life in both early and advanced cancers.

During treatment for cancer your body may have additional energy and protein requirements. Side effects from treatment or having a specific cancer impacts dietary intake as well as the desire to eat. We therefore offer all patients at OCV the opportunity to see our Oncology Dietitian.

The OCV Oncology Dietitian can assist you to improve your nutritional status during and after your cancer treatment by:

  • Managing side effects impacting diet
  • Providing education for optimal nutritional intake and assisting with everyday healthy eating
  • Assisting with weight management and providing practical advice
